Two major Android flagships were released on Tuesday. While Motorola launched Moto X, OnePlus came up with the most anticipated smartphone, OnePlus Two. With impressive specs and an affordable price tag, these phones just made the Android smartphone market more competitive.
Similar to OnePlus One, OnePlus Two features a 5.5-inch screen. Unlike the OPO, this phone’s frame is made of aluminum. However the back of the phone still has the textured material.
On the right, you have the power button and volume rocker. On the left, you have a three way switch for switching between three notification settings(none, priority, all). Remember Iphone?
On the back, you have the camera with LED flash and the fingerprint sensor. On the bottom, there is a USB Type C charging port. The phone looks small for its size.
The Moto X Style features a 5.7-inch screen. The most noticeable aspect of the phone is its thin bezels. Just like the OnePlus Two, the frame is made of aluminum. On the right, you have the power button and the volume rocker. On the bottom is the charging port. X Style looks very similar to the earlier edition. The phone looks really good with the screen stretching out to the edge of the device. There are two front facing speakers.
The OnePlus Two sports a 13 megapixel rear camera and a 5mp front facing camera. The camera comes with image stabilisation and can capture 4K videos. The company is coming up with its own camera software which looks very minimalistic.
The Moto X on the other hand sports a whopping 21mp camera and a 5mp front facing camera. Motorola claims that this camera is one of the top three cameras in the world. The interesting feature in the phone is that it has a LED flash for the front camera. Useful for the selfie lovers out there. There is a night mode option that is capable of producing better low-light images. The DxOMark score for Moto X is a whopping 83. The website reports that the camera offers very good detail preservation, good exposure, accurate white balance and low noise in outdoor conditions. The camera lags behind in low light conditions and autofocus stability. If the review is to believed, the Moto X is a true flagship killer.
Processor and Performance
The OnePlus features a Snapdragon 810 processor. There’s a 1.8GHz octa-core CPU inside the chipset. The 16GB variant features 3GB of RAM while the 64GB variant features 4GB of RAM. OnePlus has announced that there are no heating issues unlike other 810 SoC phones. But we cannot confirm this. The phone sports a fingerprint sensor. This will be very alluring once Android M comes out.
The Moto X on the other hand features a Snapdragon 808 processor. This may be due to the heating issues of Snapdragon 810. There’s a 1.8GHz hexa-core CPU inside the chipset. The phone comes with 3GB of RAM. The Moto X has expandable storage and beats the OnePlus Two in this department.
As we reported earlier, the OnePlus Two is coming up with a whopping 3,300 mah battery. We cannot comment on the battery life though. The phone comes with a USB Type-C charger. This is expected to speed up charging.
The MotoX, on the other hand is coming up with a 3,000 mah battery. Moto X Style will feature a LCD display instead of an AMOLED display. This was maybe done to increase the battery life. The phone offers fast charging and comes with a turbo charger. The company claims that in 15minutes, the phone will get you 34% of charge.
We cannot actually decide which phone is better so soon.
The OnePlus Two has got a better processor, an excellent battery. The availability, camera and a non expandable storage are disappointing. The fingerprint sensor is an added feature. This may not be a deal breaker to many.
The Moto X Style, on the other hand has an excellent design, a camera that is good on paper and runs stock Android. The phone comes with guaranteed and faster updates. We have doubts on the battery life, even though the company promised one full day charge.
